Are you looking to help make a positive change in someone's life? If so, please consider becoming a mentor for the United Way of Rock River Valley's Black Male Initiative, which helps young men in Rockford achieve their educational and employment goals through a wraparound support system that empowers each participant to obtain their goals.
Mentors work with these young men (ages 18-24) as they work through their individualized achievement plans, which can include goals such as securing stable employment, obtaining their high school equivalency, seeking out technical training or others.
We are looking for male mentors who have experience working through the workforce, education and/or legal system and are willing to share their insights, advice and expertise with others. You will be matched with one BMI participant and provide an additional level of support to them as they work with a case manager to achieve their goals.
