Winnebago County Citizen Corp Council

Who We Are

Winnebago County Citizen Corps Mission

The purpose of the Winnebago County Citizen Corp is to educate the community on the importance
of personal and community preparedness through training opportunities, media outlets
and local events and to coordinate local volunteer information among individual organizations.

National Citizen Corps Mission

The mission of Citizen Corps is to harness the power of every individual through education, training,
and volunteer service to make communities safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond
to the threats of terrorism, crime, public health issues, and disasters of all kinds.

 Volunteer Reception Center (VRC)

The VRC has several functions some of which include initial interview of the volunteer both in person and by phone, data collection and basic training.  The CCC is seeking volunteers who would be willing to staff the VRC when called upon to open.  Several persons are needed to rotate through to cover multiple posts (registration of volunteers, assigning volunteers to specific locations based on skills, ect.) and the anticipation that the VRC may be open for several days or weeks.  No special skills are required to volunteer at the VRC.

What We Do

The Winnebago County Citizen Corp Council (CCC), comprised of first responder, government and social service agencies in the community, has developed a Volunteer Reception Center (VRC).  The purpose of the VRC is to solicit and manage spontaneous volunteers who will respond to a large scale disaster.  The VRC is a mobile program that will set up at any number of locations throughout the community, strategically located in an area best suited for the management of the disaster.
