Services include job readiness skills training and computer/Internet classes for individuals who are homeless, economically disadvantaged parents, U.S. military veterans, and/or are on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections. Available resources for individuals who are involved in the program include transportation assistance, telephone and voice mail, vouchers for interview/class clothing, low-cost haircuts, mail and fax service, job search mentoring, job development, and job coaching. By assisting people to become gainfully employed, the PLES program restores the individual’s personal pride and self-sufficiency, eases the burden on local service programs, and reduces incarceration and recidivism. Gainfully employed participants become productive, tax paying citizens
